Against the backdrop of high-performance and high-density evolution of data centers, thermal management technology has become a critical link to guarantee stable equipment operation and energy efficiency optimization. The joint research center will fully integrate the strengths of Tsinghua University’s talent pool in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, as well as Hailiang’s advantages in precision manufacturing and industrialized application. It will focus on technical fields including fundamental theories and methodology systems of advanced liquid cooling thermal management systems, intelligent manufacturing and system integration. A full-chain technological system spanning basic research to industrial implementation will be built to offer a high-standard platform supporting independent innovation of liquid cooling technology in China.
Wu Huaqiang stated that Tsinghua University always bases its development on major national strategic demands and promotes in-depth integration of basic research and industrial implementation. Liquid cooling technology has evolved into a key generic technology underpinning national computing infrastructure and high-end equipment. He expressed hopes that both parties will leverage the collaborative strengths of interdisciplinary research and industrial commercialization via the joint center to deliver solid technical support for high-quality development of China’s liquid cooling industry.
Wang Lihong remarked that Hailiang Group adheres to the philosophy of real economy development. Its subsidiary Hailiang Co., Ltd. has long engaged in copper processing, boasting outstanding scale advantages, technical capabilities and global operation experience. The layout of advanced liquid cooling technology marks a pivotal move for Hailiang to transform from traditional manufacturing to high-tech-driven development. She emphasized that Hailiang feels honored and eager to cooperate with Tsinghua University to jointly advance cutting-edge fundamental research and breakthroughs in core key technologies, so as to achieve integrated industry-university-research-application development.
Concurrently, the first Administrative Committee Meeting of the joint research center was convened. Participants reviewed and approved documents for the center’s establishment, its charter and the annual work plan. In-depth discussions were conducted regarding the development goals and key tasks of the center.
