Haier Smart Home Becomes China's First Leading Home Appliance Enterprise to Announce Global Carbon Neutrality Goals

On December 23, Haier Smart Home's Carbon Neutrality Strategy Conference, themed "Intelligently Mapping a Zero-Carbon Future and Marching Forward Together on a Green Journey", was held in Qingdao. At the event, Haier Smart Home released a carbon neutrality white paper, committing to achieving global operational carbon neutrality no later than 2050 and using 100% renewable energy worldwide. This marks the first clear carbon neutrality commitment with a global operational scope among China's leading home appliance enterprises.

Data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) shows that the electricity consumption of home appliances has accounted for more than 20% of the world's total power consumption. This is not just a number, but a signal that reminds us that energy use in households is closely related to the global decarbonization process.

At the conference, Li Huagang, Chairman and President of Haier Smart Home, stated that climate change is reshaping the living environment of humanity. Faced with this era-defining issue, the company has taken sustainable development as the core philosophy of its business operations, and is promoting the high-quality development of the enterprise by building a full-chain green and low-carbon ecological system.

It is understood that in building a full-chain green and low-carbon ecological system, "scenarios" serve as the carrier of Haier Smart Home's greening strategy. Currently, Haier Smart Home has achieved full green coverage ranging from smart home scenarios to commercial office scenarios and industrial scenarios. The company now boasts industrial parks that have obtained China's first batch of "zero-carbon park" certifications, as well as the largest number of "lighthouse factories" in the industry. Meanwhile, Haier Smart Home has also built the "Smart Home Green Carbon System", which conducts comprehensive and refined management and control over production execution, energy scheduling, and carbon emission management, turning every production line into a practitioner of green manufacturing.

In addition, as a highly globalized enterprise, Haier Smart Home has entered more than 200 countries and regions around the world through its tripartite localized layout, and achieved market leadership in different regions. Relying on this global layout, Haier Smart Home can rapidly implement its greening strategy worldwide.

Meanwhile, through the approach of "promoting globalization through localization and serving globalization with globalization", Haier Smart Home can better realize the coordination of global resources and jointly advance the development of the greening strategy.

Certainly, carbon neutrality cannot be achieved by a single enterprise alone; it requires collaborative efforts from the entire industry and even the whole industrial chain. To this end, Haier Smart Home launched a global carbon neutrality initiative at the conference, calling on partners, global employees and users to jointly build a sustainable green ecosystem.
