A source revealed to The New Indian Express that the Indian government has recently issued a global directive to its embassies and consulates abroad to "fully resume tourist visa processing for Chinese citizens." This move aligns with a series of "people-centric measures" agreed upon by both India and China to stabilize bilateral relations.

According to a report by India's New Delhi Television (NDTV) on the 22nd, cited by Global Times, the Indian government has fully resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese citizens in an effort to promote the normalization of India-China relations. This move is regarded by Indian media as another significant signal of the ongoing thaw in bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to reports, in July this year, India resumed tourist visa processing for Chinese citizens after a five-year hiatus, though initially only through the Indian Embassy in China and its consulates in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. The New Indian Express noted that the recent expansion of visa processing services worldwide reflects India's growing confidence in the current trajectory of bilateral relations.
Notably, China Eastern Airlines announced on November 9 that its India route has officially resumed operations, with the outbound flight of the inaugural service achieving an occupancy rate of over 95%. The airline also plans to restore the Kunming-Kolkata route and launch a new Shanghai Pudong-Mumbai route, further expanding the flight network between China and India. Additionally, according to a report by India's Business Standard on the 18th, Air India plans to resume direct flights between New Delhi and Shanghai starting February 2026, with four weekly flights. The airline also intends to launch direct flights between Mumbai and Shanghai. This marks Air India's return to the Chinese mainland market after six years.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India stated in a social media post on October 26th: "The resumption of direct flights between China and India has become a reality." The Hindustan Times reported that this marks a significant milestone in the two countries' efforts to restore normal travel connections. The Indian government expressed that the resumption of flights will facilitate "people-to-people exchanges" and contribute to the "gradual normalization of bilateral relations."
